The following features are available only through Ancestral Quest. You can't get these with PAF 5, even when supplemented by PAFWiz:
- NetFam Collaboration. Exclusive to AQ! Work together with others on a single file. Eliminate the effort of GEDCOM and Match/Merge to coordinate efforts.
- To Do/Research items and Research Log. Organize your research efforts and print out lists of tasks before research trips, organized by location or sorted by other fields. Keep a record of dead-ends as well as successful searches.
- Spell-Check Notes
- Re-use source citations for as many events and records as needed. The citation will appear only once in the list of sources on a report, with the same footnote number used wherever it was cited.
- Attach source/citations to just a date or a place for more accurate documentation.
- Use the simplified notes/sources screen of AQ. You'll realize how much more quickly and efficiently you can document your genealogy.
- Speed up entry of Citations by not only using the last memorized citation, but by selecting from a list of the last 9 memorized and last 9 used citations.
- Full screen editing of source and citation notes
- Create a master source for a GEDCOM file during import
- Attach notes to a repository
- Categorize sources -- view only those sources that are of a particular type, such as Birth records, Census records, etc.
- An extra field in Source record for "Edited by" or "Translated by", etc.
- Flag a source as a Master source, and view only the master sources
- Assign a quality rating to each source and citation
- Record your personal file ID for a source citation
- Field by Field guidelines while entering sources and citations
- Merge duplicate Repositories
- Merge specific Sources as well as auto merging the exact matches
- Merge duplicate citations of a source
- Change title of the "Christening" field. Use the field as an alternate event close to the time of birth (such as "Blessing") and give it the appropriate title for each individual
- Record modern families accurately. Mom is biological, dad is adoptive. Etc.
- Import full family history. If you have exported all your family history to one file, including the scrapbook items, AQ is the only program we know of that will import that GEDCOM file and restore the pictures.
- Directly convert a PAF 5 file to a .aq file
- Convert an older PAF 2.31 file to a .paf or .aq file
